When you visit our websites https://instok.org, https://octoshop.org, and use our browser extension (OctoShop), and other services, you trust us with your personal information. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect, how we use it and what rights you have in relation to it. Please read this privacy notice carefully as it will help you make informed decisions about sharing your personal information with us.
1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT
We automatically collect certain information such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics (fingerprint), device type, country, location, information about when you use our Services and other technical information either directly or using Google Analytics. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
We collect visits, product, purchase amount, and site information (product name, price, inventory, and other product metadata) when you visit an ecommerce website like Walmart, Target, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. We use this in order to do things like improve our product, build our product database, and help the community shop better. Data is only collected from e-commerce sites that we function on or plan to function on with our comparison, alert, or other shopping technology.
We collect analytics on interactions with our extension in order to detect issues and improve our product to serve you better. For example, knowing whether certain stores are preferred can help us prioritize those stores while displaying them to users. Understanding preferences on whether a user engages with a certain feature can allow us to enable or disable the feature for them. We also use this information to expedite bug fixes by gaining information about broken buttons, screens, etc and improving the user experience of our product.
We collect metadata and website content about the page a user is on (if a shopping based product page) or just the url in all other cases WHEN the user reports an issue using the report button in our extension, so we can take a look at that site and debug issues.
Information like tracked items and settings are also attached to the user account so we can send notifications, debug issues, evaluate our extension's price comparison and tracking performance, etc.
If you login with Google, Facebook, or Apple, we collect name and email addresses for your account. We do provide the option to skip login so you can use the extension without providing any personal details (though this login system is required to enable specific features like cashback rewards) if you are interested in using those features.
We comply with all Chrome Web Store policies and DO NOT sell any personal information to any third party.
